Which tool is a must-have for your work?
Molecular biology and genetic tools! We have to discover specific regions in trees DNA– that’s the main goal of my work. Other must-have tools are good coordination and close contact with the students.
Which current HAWK-project fascinates you?
The project I’m coordinating and working at right now – the Drought Markers Project: Together with researchers and students from other universities and countries we’re exploring DNA trying to find genes that make Oak and Beech trees more resilient to climate change. Our goal is to adapt our forests to face climate change through research and cooperation.

Dear HAWK, please continue prospering and reaching out for your students and for the future generations. I also wish this kind of research and studies reaches bigger spheres, there is nothing more important than caring about our environment!
